In the spring of 2020, a vote was held in the Shchekino district to select the territory for improvement. The selection was between the square of the 40th anniversary of the foundation of the city of Shchekino, the park of the City Palace of Culture, the square at the intersection of Yubileinaya and Pirogova streets, the square on Pionerskaya street, the square opposite the Children's Music School №1 named after L.N. Tolstoy on the Lisa Shamshikova street. According to the results of the voting, the square of the 40th anniversary of the foundation of the city of Shchekino became the winner.
A modern playground with benches, trash cans and lighting will be built in the square, pedestrian paths will be paved and illuminated, small architectural forms will be installed. There will be a recreation area with multi-level benches and park swings, an outdoor toilet for visitors.
